Join our dynamic Client in Castlebar, Co. Mayo, and play a pivotal role in optimising manufacturing processes for cutting-edge single-use systems. We are seeking a highly motivated Manufacturing Engineer to drive efficiency, manage projects, and ensure the highest standards of quality in a regulated environment.

About the Role:

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you'll be instrumental in supporting our operations team, leading single-use systems engineering projects, and maximising equipment utilization. You'll apply your engineering expertise to drive continuous improvement, manage equipment procurement and validation, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve operational excellence.

Cleanroom Environment & Non-Smoking Policy:

This position requires working in an ISO Class 7 cleanroom environment. Due to the sensitivity of our products, only non-smokers are eligible for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process Optimization & Lean Initiatives: Drive manufacturing process performance and cleanroom layout improvements through the implementation of problem-solving tools and lean methodologies.
  • Single-Use Systems Project Management: Lead engineering projects related to single-use systems, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Equipment Utilization & OEE: Apply a scientific approach to problem-solving, utilizing analytical and experimental skills to maximize equipment utilization and track Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Equipment Procurement & Validation: Collaborate with operations, machine build shop, facilities, and EH&S to define equipment requirements, manage procurement, installation, and validation of new equipment.
  • Process Analysis & Improvement: Analyze current manufacturing processes, identify inefficiencies, and develop strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Equipment Design & Review: Participate in new equipment design reviews, providing recommendations for ease of operation, maintenance, and robustness.
  • Quality & Compliance: Support the Quality department through the creation of SOPs, deviation/excursion responses, and equipment/process validation.
  • Training & Support: Train operators on new equipment and procedures, and provide ongoing product support for single-use systems production.
  • Documentation & Continuous Improvement: Create support documentation, including process flows, and facilitate new product design implementation.
  • CAD & Equipment Modification: Prepare drawings for equipment modifications using 2D and 3D CAD software, and assist with equipment troubleshooting and repair.
  • Safety & Environmental Compliance: Ensure all engineering work adheres to Environmental Health and Safety standards.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree (Level 8) in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or related discipline).
  • 3-5 years of industry experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Experience in cleanroom manufacturing and regulated industries (e.g., medical device, pharmaceutical) is highly desirable.
  • Proven project management experience.
  • Experience in jig and fixture design.
  • 3D printing experience is a plus.
