Job Title: Maintenance Engineer
Location: West Donegal
Reports to: Engineering Manager
Role Overview:
The Maintenance Engineer supports our mission to ensure all engineering projects are accurately planned, well-coordinated, and executed with a high standard of safety and environmental consideration. In this role, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing maintenance and project activities within the factory, balancing both hands-on and administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Project and Maintenance Coordination
Manage and execute scheduled maintenance activities and project tasks to maximize plant efficiency and uptime.
Work closely with production teams to align engineering activities with production demands.
Coordinate and oversee subcontractors to ensure compliance with site, company, and safety requirements, including documentation such as Method Statements, Risk Assessments, Lift Plans, and Reports.
Preventative Maintenance & Systems Management
Collaborate with the Engineering Manager to enhance and maintain the factory’s Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedule.
Document maintenance activities and update records in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) – ‘PEMAC’.
Prioritize, allocate, and monitor daily tasks to ensure optimal performance and compliance with standards.
Safety & Compliance
Uphold health, safety, and environmental standards in all tasks.
Support the management of the HACCP plan and adhere to feed safety regulations across raw materials, intermediates, and final products.
Verify all completed works are tested to meet duty conditions before returning equipment to production.
Team Development & Training
Provide guidance to staff on engineering best practices and troubleshoot process or engineering issues.
Identify training needs within the team to foster continuous improvement and ensure competence.
Develop and maintain clear engineering instructions for all procedures to support consistent standards.
Resource Management
Oversee competitive purchasing of engineering services, parts, and consumables, maintaining cost efficiency.
Ensure essential engineering spares are available, identifiable, and organized within the site inventory system.
Promote a proactive, “can-do” attitude across the engineering department.
Continuous Improvement
Actively contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, keeping management informed of any engineering challenges or opportunities for enhancement.
Collaborate on initiatives to optimize plant operations and boost sustainability within engineering processes.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Proven experience in an engineering role within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
Strong understanding of maintenance management systems, ideally with experience using CMMS tools (e.g., PEMAC).
Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and coordinate across departments.
Proficient in PC-based applications and administrative functions.
Knowledge of safety and compliance standards, with experience managing HACCP requirements a plus.
