Shift Manager

The Shift Manager is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and coordination to Production employees. This role focuses on meeting key business objectives, including product quality, order fulfillment, OEE, labor efficiency, health and safety, and budget control. Additionally, the Shift Manager will support the Plant Manager in operations and serve as their deputy in their absence.

Overview of Responsibilities: 

  • Lead the shift team to meet production targets and KPIs.
  • Ensure top standards in product quality, integrity, hygiene, and compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Housekeeping Practices.
  • Monitor and control production costs while driving efficiency.
  • Enforce and uphold safe working practices for team members, contractors, and visitors.
  • Ensure all team members are trained and operate safely, effectively, and with a focus on quality.
  • Promote strong working relationships and maintain effective communication across all levels.
  • Oversee the maintenance of work areas and equipment for optimal performance.
  • Implement initiatives to enhance employee engagement, product quality, and system/process efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with QA, logistics, technical, and maintenance teams to achieve operational excellence.
  • Manage internal controls as assigned by the Internal Controller.
  • Work with HR on employee performance, development, and relations, including updating relevant HR systems.
  • Act as a deputy for the Production Manager in their absence, supporting broader production operations.
  • Contribute to the department’s performance goals in Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Motivation, and Environment.
  • Ensure the correct use, maintenance, and development of all production systems.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a management or supervisory role within the food manufacturing industry.
  • A third-level qualification in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Experience with SAP, MES, or SCADA systems is highly advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential.
