Our client, a leading medical device company is seeking to recruit a Senior Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist in Galway on a permanent basis.
Responsibilities:
- Lead safety programmes to include emergency response, risk assessment and chemical compliance.
- Maintain plant statistic, performance to goals and other records necessary to document ISO45001:2018 Management System status and comply with regulatory requirements.
- Represent the client to outside parties, such as regulatory agencies and government bodies to ensure legal Health and Safety compliance.
- Maintain metrics for assessing EH&S effectiveness.
- Direct all aspects of chemical handling and hazardous waste management to remain compliant and maintain operating efficiency by assessing efficiency and cost-effectiveness, determining the most suitable method for handling specific types of waste, and ensuring that operating practices are in full compliance with regulations.
- Work with senior management to identify and control significant health and safety impacts on operations.
- Participate in and prepare for EHS inspections by external agencies, and all system audits.
- Investigate, prepare, communicate and manage reports on incidents, injuries, ill-health, and corrective actions as required.
Qualifications:
- Level 8 Bachelors Degree in Occupational, Health and Safety or other relevant 3rd level qualification.
- Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in Medical Device Industry or in a senior EHS role.
- Knowledge of legislation and ability to interpret and translate such information into business policy and procedures.
