Product Development Engineer – Medical Device Industry | Galway, Ireland

We are partnering with a global leader in the medical device industry to find a talented and motivated Product Development Engineer for their team in Galway, Ireland. Role Overview: As a Product Development Engineer, you will drive the product development process, guiding projects from initial concept through to successful commercialization. You will serve as a technical leader, providing guidance to team members such as engineers, technicians, and interns, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead product and process development activities from concept to commercialization.

  • Develop new prototypes, products, and processes that meet or exceed customer requirements.

  • Collaborate with Program Managers to create and execute project plans, ensuring timely delivery within budget.

  • Drive design for manufacture/design for assembly (DFM/DFA) efforts to optimize product designs.

  • Conduct design reviews, brainstorm solutions, and participate in troubleshooting sessions.

  • Maintain detailed documentation throughout all phases of the project.

  • Support design and process verification and validation activities with manufacturing and quality teams.

  • Stay updated with medical device regulations, including FDA, QSR, and ISO 13485.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, or related field.

  • 3-5 years of experience in the medical device industry or a similar regulated environment.

  • Proven track record in taking medical devices from concept to commercialization.

  • Experience with balloon catheters and delivery systems is highly desirable.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
