Product Development Engineer (12-Month Maternity Cover) – Medical Device Industry

We are partnering with a leading company in the medical device industry to find a highly motivated Product Development Engineer for a 12-month temporary role based in Galway, Ireland. Role Summary

As a Product Development Engineer, you will play a key role in the development of innovative medical devices, leading projects from concept to commercialisation. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, technicians, and program managers, to bring new products to market. This role requires a strong technical background, creativity, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead product and process development activities from concept to commercialisation, ensuring all project milestones are met.

  • Develop new product concepts and prototypes, ensuring they meet customer and regulatory requirements.

  • Collaborate with Program Managers to create and execute detailed project plans within budget and schedule constraints.

  • Drive innovation in product and process design, participating in brainstorming sessions and design reviews.

  • Ensure comprehensive documentation throughout all phases of the product development process.

  • Engage in design for manufacturing and assembly (DFM/DFA) activities to optimise production efficiency.

  • Support design and process verification and validation in collaboration with manufacturing and quality teams.

  • Liaise with customers and other company sites to align on design and development objectives.

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Biomedical, Polymer Engineering, or a related field.

  • 3-5 years of experience in the medical device industry or a similar sector.

  • Proven track record in developing medical devices from concept to commercialisation.

  • Experience with balloon catheters, delivery systems, and the Product Development Process (PDP).

  • Strong skills in problem-solving, communication, and project management.
