Product Development Engineer (12-Month Maternity Cover) – Medical Device Industry
We are partnering with a leading company in the medical device industry to find a highly motivated Product Development Engineer for a 12-month temporary role based in Galway, Ireland. Role Summary
As a Product Development Engineer, you will play a key role in the development of innovative medical devices, leading projects from concept to commercialisation. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, technicians, and program managers, to bring new products to market. This role requires a strong technical background, creativity, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead product and process development activities from concept to commercialisation, ensuring all project milestones are met.
Develop new product concepts and prototypes, ensuring they meet customer and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with Program Managers to create and execute detailed project plans within budget and schedule constraints.
Drive innovation in product and process design, participating in brainstorming sessions and design reviews.
Ensure comprehensive documentation throughout all phases of the product development process.
Engage in design for manufacturing and assembly (DFM/DFA) activities to optimise production efficiency.
Support design and process verification and validation in collaboration with manufacturing and quality teams.
Liaise with customers and other company sites to align on design and development objectives.
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Biomedical, Polymer Engineering, or a related field.
3-5 years of experience in the medical device industry or a similar sector.
Proven track record in developing medical devices from concept to commercialisation.
Experience with balloon catheters, delivery systems, and the Product Development Process (PDP).
Strong skills in problem-solving, communication, and project management.
