A multinational Medical Device Manufacturing company is seeking a Mechanical/Process technician to join its team. This role requires a strong technical aptitude, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety. This is a shift role working 18:30 to 06:30, 3 nights a week on a rotating 4-week schedule (Sun-Mon-Tue for 4 weeks, then Wed-Thu-Fri for 4 weeks).
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute process preventative maintenance (PMs) and user calibrations, ensuring on-time and accurate completion, and managing calibration deviations.
- Monitor automated assembly machine performance, identify trends, and address scrap rates exceeding 1%, MTBF alarms under 15 minutes, and downtime events over 10 minutes.
- Serve as the manufacturing representative for process change analysis, ensuring compliance with requirements.
- Manage consumable Kanban systems, maintain appropriate stock levels, and monitor local inventory.
- Coordinate equipment calibrations with calibration and production teams to minimize production impact.
- Develop calibration documentation for new equipment.
- Ensure all maintenance and repairs adhere to SOPs and GMP requirements.
- Create and update technical guides for best practice sharing.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for automated controls, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Collaborate on equipment commissioning and validation, including acceptance trials and debugging.
- Adhere to site safety procedures, including permitting, lockout/tagout, and safety documentation.
- Collaborate effectively with Operations, Quality, EHS, and other departments.
Education & Experience:
- Completion of a Mechanical/Electrical/Multiskilled Apprenticeship or NFQ Level 6 qualification.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in medical devices or a similar regulated industry.
- Ability to interpret electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic/pneumatic drawings (advantageous).
- Experience maintaining electrical and mechanical equipment in a regulated environment.
- Experience with change management systems.
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (e.g., SAP) and electronic maintenance request systems.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, planning, and organizational skills.
