Injection Moulding Engineer – Medical Devices

We are partnering with a global leader in medical device manufacturing to recruit an experienced Injection Moulding Engineer for their facility in Castlerea, Co. Roscommon. Key Responsibilities:

As an Injection Moulding Engineer, you will:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with injection moulding processes and production moulds.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and generate detailed reports as required.
  • Lead process validation activities, including Scientific Injection Moulding (SIM) studies.
  • Develop and maintain moulding documentation such as SOPs, IQs, DMRs, and work instructions.
  • Execute Design of Experiments (DOE) for new processes and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, customers, and vendors to optimise moulding processes and meet project timelines.
  • Liaise with Toolmakers on preventative maintenance, spare parts, and design adjustments.
  • Introduce and implement advanced moulding technologies (e.g., robotics, process monitoring).
  • Ensure compliance with quality and environmental management systems (ISO standards).
  • Provide ongoing training for technicians and support cross-functional projects.

Requirements:

  • Level 7/8 degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in injection moulding, preferably in medical devices, packaging, or technology sectors.
  • Proven experience with process validation and statistical analysis tools (e.g., Minitab).
  • Strong knowledge of medical device validation protocols and Lean/Six Sigma principles.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills with a strong process engineering background.
  • Ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to meet project deadlines.
