Our client, a global leader in food manufacturing products is seeking a Health and Safety Officer on a permanent basis. Your responsibilities will include supervising every aspect of the health and safety department . This position will be based in Macroom, Co Cork. 

As EHS Officer you will: (full job description available on request)

  • Perform EHS risk assessments and audits, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) evaluations, implementing necessary controls, and maintaining safety documentation such as risk registers and safety statements.
  • Ensure the site adheres fully to all regulatory requirements and corporate policies.
  • Foster a strong safety culture that engages all employees and contractors, promoting a safety-first mindset across the team.
  • Collaborate within a project team to manage and deliver key initiatives that align with site objectives, including but not limited to: confined space work, working at heights, chemical safety, contractor management, and ISO 14001 standards.
  • Support key Health and Safety milestones outlined in the site’s Roadmap, covering areas such as Contractor Management, Behavioral Programs, LOTO, Emergency Response, and Ergonomics, alongside the Environmental Roadmap.
  • Work closely with Front Line Management to provide guidance on Accident/Incident Investigations, ensuring the implementation of effective preventative measures.

The ideal EHS Officer will have:

  • Third-level qualification in Engineering/Health and Safety or related discipline
  • At least 1-2 years experience in health and safety in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge and experience of Lock Out Tag Out would be beneficial
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to deliver training and presentations to groups
