The Development Manager will lead, manage and be responsible for negotiating, securing and overseeing landowner agreements for onshore wind, solar, storage and hybrid renewable energy projects across Ireland. The role involves working closely with landowners and liaising with the company’s legal, financial and technical teams to ensure efficient and successful project origination and delivery. The Development Manager will lead out and oversee all aspects of land acquisition from landowner identification and initial outreach, to signed and executed option agreements. The Development Manager will play the key role in developing and maintaining relationships with landowners, and during the early stages of a project in building relationships with local community stakeholders. The role requires frequent travel throughout Ireland.
Your Key Responsibilities:
Build and maintain strong relationships with landowners to deliver positive project origination and project development outcomes.
Negotiate and close landowner agreements for Ireland-based wind, solar, energy storage and hybrid projects.
Manage the Ireland land acquisition budget.
Work with the technical project team on land requirements for individual projects, assist with project feasibility land assessments and site selection.
Deliver land acquisition outcomes in line with project timelines.
During a project’s origination phase, start the relationship building process with local community stakeholders.
Stay informed on relevant local regulations, zoning laws, and any legal changes affecting land use for renewable energy projects.
Stay informed on land and property titles, land ownership, planning, and environmental constraints.
Maintain detailed records of all landowner interactions, agreements, and negotiations.
What We’re Looking For:
A degree in Business, Law, Real Estate or a related field.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
Strong organizational and project management abilities, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a cross-functional team.
Strong negotiation skills and experience handling complex agreements and disputes.
Ability and willingness to travel for site visits and meetings with landowners outside normal business hours.
5 years of experience in land acquisition, landowner negotiations, or real estate management, preferably within the renewable energy or infrastructure sectors.
Strong understanding of landowner agreements, including leases, options, easements, and associated legal concepts.
Knowledge of the planning, zoning, and permitting regulations affecting renewable energy projects in Ireland.
Familiarity with environmental regulations, land title issues, and site assessments in the context of renewable energy projects.
Familiarity with land management and project management software, including, but not limited to ArcGIS, SharePoint, and Microsoft Excel.
Knowledge of the renewable energy market, particularly in Ireland.
