As a Category Buyer, you will play a part in ensuring the smooth flow of materials for production, working closely with suppliers and internal teams to meet operational demands. Key Responsibilities of Category Buyer:
Create purchase requisitions, requests for quotations (RFQs), and purchase orders within the ERP system.
Ensure materials are delivered on time to support production schedules.
Work closely with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and escalate delays when necessary.
Participate in supplier performance meetings, evaluating delivery reliability.
Request and manage technical drawings for supplier submissions when required.
Generate and review exception/shortage reports weekly to adjust order schedules based on production needs.
Provide planning teams with accurate order confirmations to support efficient production scheduling.
Organise and coordinate shipments and collections from suppliers, ensuring materials arrive on time.
Enter shipping confirmations upon receipt of supplier order acknowledgments.
Skills & Experience of Category buyer:
2-3 years' experience in a purchasing or procurement role.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Experience in a manufacturing environment is desirable.
Knowledge of SAP or similar ERP systems is beneficial.
