Category Buyer

As a Category Buyer, you will play a part in ensuring the smooth flow of materials for production, working closely with suppliers and internal teams to meet operational demands. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic manufacturing environment and take ownership of a key material category. Full time - Permanent role onsite in Cavan


Key Responsibilities of Category Buyer:

  • Create purchase requisitions, requests for quotations (RFQs), and purchase orders within the ERP system.

  • Ensure materials are delivered on time to support production schedules.

  • Work closely with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and escalate delays when necessary.

  • Participate in supplier performance meetings, evaluating delivery reliability.

  • Request and manage technical drawings for supplier submissions when required.

  • Generate and review exception/shortage reports weekly to adjust order schedules based on production needs.

  • Provide planning teams with accurate order confirmations to support efficient production scheduling.

  • Organise and coordinate shipments and collections from suppliers, ensuring materials arrive on time.

  • Enter shipping confirmations upon receipt of supplier order acknowledgments.


Skills & Experience of Category buyer:

  • 2-3 years' experience in a purchasing or procurement role.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is desirable.

  • Knowledge of SAP or similar ERP systems is beneficial.
