Health and Safety Officer - Food Production

Join one of Ireland's leading food manufacturing companies as the HS Officer based in County Kildare. Within the position you will be supporting the operations teams with implementing the safety policy and standards for the business with the end goal in keeping our employees safe and reducing accidents. Monitoring standards on our sites to establish and embed a culture of Health and Safety across the business. You will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in this department as the role will offer full ownership and autonomy.

Responsibilities

  • Grow a Better Business (Strategy)

  • Assume accountability for the health and safety of our employees across our sites driving improvements across all areas of production while developing processes that help promote a strong health and safety culture and reduce our accidents

  • Ensure that the strengths and values of O’Brien Fine Foods are further reinforced with best practice and integrity as key values of the business

  • Develop inter personnel relationships to drive health and safety culture within the organization

  • Develop relationships both internally (employees) and with key external (Safety bodies, government agencies, auditors, suppliers) stakeholders and develop a Health and safety polices and standards within our business

  • Lead, coach and develop our teams on health and safety policies, procedures, and risk assessments

  • Organise and conduct health and safety training, including induction training, refresher training and manual handling

  • Develops strong working relationships between employees and sites encouraging collaborative teamwork

  • Develop training tools to drive awareness and implementation of health and safety initiatives

  • Lead initiatives to increase and develop best practice safety solutions, ensuring that there is communication across the business and a mentality of continuous improvement

Requirements:

  • Membership with IOSH to at least Graduate Level (Grad IOSH)

  • Degree in Health and Safety or a related discipline

  • 1-2 years’ H&S experience working in a manufacturing environment (desirable, but not essential)

  • Manual Handling Instructor (Desirable, but not essential
