Financial Controller

Rare opportunity for an experienced Finance Manager / Financial Controller to work in an influential role with an industry leader based in Kerry. Because of their recent and planned growth, this is an exciting opportunity for someone who is interested in growing with the company in a collaborative working environment. The Financial Controller will oversee corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget, and forecast preparation, as well as the development of internal control policies and procedures. Permanent role, based one hour west of Killarney.

Overview of main responsibilities (full job description available on request):

  • Develop the finance team.
  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
  • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.
  • Develop activity based standard costing and review costings to ensure the most cost-effective processes are in place.
  • Manage all accounting operations including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and banking.
  • Prepare statutory accounts with full supporting schedules in preparation for external audit.
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
  • Prepare Revenue returns for VAT and payroll tax and other statistical returns as required.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

What the ideal candidate looks like:

  • Qualified Accountant with 7+ years experience and Financial Controller exposure.
  • Proven ability to drive continuous improvement and embrace change.
  • Strong commercial acumen and analytical skills.
  • People management experience.
  • Retail knowledge or experience would be advantageous.
