Exciting opportunity for an External Manufacturing Manager to join a clean technology focussed start-up. The organisation has ambitious growth plans and now requires an External Manufacturing Manager to join the team and help to scale the business for a global market while supporting the supply chain function. You will be joining a team alongside renowned industry leaders in a young, fast-growing clean tech company.
The External Manufacturing Manager will be responsible for managing technical issues across the network of suppliers who manufacture components, assemblies and finished equipment that comprise the GENERATIONS system.
The key area of responsibility are:
Technical oversight of the manufacturing of the components, assemblies and finished equipment that comprise the GENERATIONs systems
Lead the identification and resolution of manufacturing and component issues impact the GENERATIONs supply chain
Optimise the manufacturing strategy and methods to optimise cost and quality across the vendor network
This role will be part of an Operations Leadership Team and will work collaboratively across functions to deliver the shared goals of the business
Key Areas of Responsibility (full job description available on request):
Management of the Bill of Materials (BOM) for all components, assemblies and finished equipment
Ensure that technical issues relating to the manufacture of the GENERATIONS system are identified and resolved in a timely manner
Optimise the manufacturing sequences and methods for cost and quality and ensure manufacturing instructions are accurate and up to date
Establish and maintain strong relationships with the vendor network with regular on-site interaction and support
Manage and maintain the product and component specification and ensure adequate controls and testing are in place to
Manage the Engineering Change Request (ECR) process to ensure design changes are coordinated across the vendor network
Support the sourcing of new vendors and benchmarking prices from existing vendors
Provide manufacturing input to the design of new products
Identify, agree and report key performance metrics across the vendor network
What does the ideal candidate look like:
Bachelor’s degree in Elec/Mech. Process or Manufacturing Engineering or a related field.
7 years of experience in the manufacture of electrical/mechanical equipment, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Proven track record of managing and resolving technical issues with external partners
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent technical skills and deep knowledge of world class manufacturing processes
Good knowledge off applicable regulations relating to the manufacture of Elec/Mech equipment (EU machinery directive, US UL requirement etc)
Regular presence at vendor locations is required to maintain effective relationships and provide hands on support to resolve key issues
