As they continue to grow, they are seeking an Environment and Sustainability Engineer to drive key projects, ensuring regulatory compliance and supporting sustainability initiatives.
The Environment and Sustainability Specialist will work closely with the Quality & Continuous Improvement Manager to implement and manage projects that promote environmental sustainability. You will lead initiatives related to waste management, energy efficiency, and carbon reduction, while collaborating with external stakeholders to meet environmental goals.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain environmental and sustainability objectives across the business.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, including waste management permits and reporting to authorities such as the EPA.
- Lead initiatives for carbon reduction and sustainability projects in conjunction with the S&R Roadmap.
- Monitor and report on environmental KPIs, including energy usage and waste management streams.
- Conduct regular site inspections and environmental risk assessments, addressing any issues identified.
- Implement and maintain Environmental Management Systems (ISO14001), ensuring best practices are followed.
- Provide training to employees and contractors on environmental safety and sustainability programs.
- Manage environmental equipment, including installation and monitoring systems like VOC abatement and stormwater systems.
- Investigate environmental incidents and implement corrective actions as required.
- Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to develop strategies for carbon reduction and sustainability within the supply chain.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of post-graduate experience in a similar role within a licensed environment.
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance standards, particularly in waste management.
- Proven experience with Environmental Management Systems (ISO14001) and sustainability projects.
- Ability to lead projects, coordinate with multiple stakeholders, and meet project deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, with experience working with regulatory bodies like the EPA.
