Our client, a digital technology and innovation Centre in Sligo Town is seeking to recruit an Automation Engineer to join their team on a temporary, 3-year contract.

 Responsibilities:

As an Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Engaging directly with clients on their automation requirements, particularly around robotics, and advising on feasibility from both a technical and business perspective.
  • Generating concept ideas using CAD and/or simulation software to help clients understand and visualize proposed solutions and assess feasibility.
  • Collaborating with research partners, vendors, and other stakeholders to develop impartial case studies on behalf of the client, ensuring no bias towards particular vendors and the right fit for their needs.
  • Providing expertise in robotics, vision systems, PLCs, and industrial control systems to support client needs and project objectives.
  • Managing projects from conception to implementation, ensuring timely delivery and client satisfaction.
  • Developing case studies to showcase project outcomes and provide clients with comprehensive, unbiased information.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a similar field.
  • At least 3 years' experience in a senior or mid-level process/manufacturing engineering position within a live manufacturing environment and at least 2 years' experience directly involved in the implementation of automation systems.
  • At least 1 year of direct client-facing and project management experience.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as Solidworks, Catia, SolidEdge, or Fusion 360.
  • Previous experience or quick learner on simulation software such as Visual Components, RoboDK, or similar.
  • Exposure to and strong understanding of robotics, vision systems, PLCs, and industrial control systems.
