Accounts Assistant

Our client, one of Europe’s largest pet food manufacturers, is seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant to join their busy finance team in Mullingar

You will play a vital role in supporting the Finance Department by handling a range of financial tasks. This includes managing day-to-day accounts payable and receivable processes, reconciling transactions, and assisting with stock-related adjustments. This is a full-time permanent position working Monday to Friday 9-17.30. 2days work from home.


Accounts Assistant duties include:

  • Accurately process invoices while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Verify the correct matching of invoices, goods received notes (GRN), and purchase orders (PO), and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Address customer and supplier inquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Prepare reconciliations for customers, suppliers, and other accounts-related activities.
  • Record customer receipts into the system and manage related allocations.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date records in the accounts receivable and payable inbox.
  • Assist with weekly and monthly supplier payment processing.
  • Support the processing of stock write-offs and related stock transactions.
  • Contribute to reviewing, improving, and streamlining departmental processes to enhance efficiency.
  • Ensure all tasks are completed to facilitate a smooth month-end close in collaboration with the finance team.
  • Assist with year-end financial activities and support internal and external audit processes.


Requirements for Accounts Assistant:

  • Experience in processing transactions on ERP or Accounting systems required.
  • Minimum of 2 years working in a similar role.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office and skills in ERP applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal/teamwork skills. 
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, confidentiality, and trust.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work with accuracy.
