Are you an experienced Accountant looking for an opportunity to work with autonomy and flexibility? We are seeking a Senior Accountant to lead the financial operations of a dynamic and growing SME. This role offers hybrid working, with flexible hours that allow you to shape your work around your life. In this role, the Accountant plays a crucial role in having full ownership of the day-to-day management of the finances, from bank reconciliations and VAT returns to payroll and financial reporting. This role will allow you to bring your expertise to a trusted industry player and enjoy the flexibility and independence to manage your workload effectively. Permanent role, based on the east side of Cork city.
Overview of responsibilities (full job spec available on request):
- Review and reconcile bank statements daily
- Record direct debits, credit transfers, and all payment transactions
- Manage petty cash and prepare monthly bank reconciliations
- Match purchase orders to invoices, and ensure proper documentation for all transactions
- Reconcile creditor accounts and prepare supplier payments bi-monthly
- Use Exchequer software to maintain purchase daybook records
- Review and file sales invoices, prepare customer statements, and follow up on overdue accounts
- Ensure all delivery records are invoiced accurately
- Review and post stock adjustments monthly, ensuring accurate financial reporting
- Prepare bi-monthly VAT returns and annual RTD VAT forms
- Ensure compliance with zero VAT requirements and submit relevant forms
- Process payroll on a weekly, fortnightly, and monthly basis using Brightpay software
- Submit PAYE/PRSI and handle commission reports and payment processes
- Prepare draft year-end management accounts and liaise with external accountants
- Complete additional ad hoc assignments to support management as needed
What the ideal candidate looks like:
- Fully ACCA/ACA/CIMA/CPA Qualified
- Proficiency in accounting software (experience with Exchequer is a plus)
- Strong organisational skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills for internal and external interactions
