Our client, a global healthcare company is currently recruiting for an experienced EHS Engineer with a safety focus to join their growing team in Westport.

Responsibilities:

As an EHS Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Manage the day-to-day safety programs onsite and ensure that the specific Site and EHS&E Projects are delivered per Site EHS Systems Standards, and all of the relevant Legislative and Corporate requirements.

  • Create a strong “Zero Believe It, Achieve It. I Will” incident and injury-free safety culture.

  • Drive continuous safety improvements by encouraging feedback and implementing effective risk identification and mitigation strategies.

  • Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) requirements and achievement of EHS Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

  • Collaborate within a cross-functional team in the designated Business Unit to support management and employees in achieving safety and environmental goals aligned with campus objectives.

  • Implement various EHS programs in collaboration with the EHS Team, including auditing, risk assessment, permit management, promotional activities, and incident investigation.

  • Lead on campus-wide EHS programs such as ergonomics, behavioral safety, and chemical safety.

  • Provide autonomy and ownership for assigned projects, areas, or programs while leveraging support from an experienced EHS Team.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Science, Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field (if the primary degree is in Engineering/Science, an additional EHS-focused qualification is preferred).

  • At least 8 years of experience in EHS within the pharmaceutical/medical device industry.

  • Demonstrated experience in project management and/or leadership roles.

  • Self-motivated with strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.

  • Capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously with a keen attention to detail.
